The July Edit
Happy July, Ave42 babes! We have so much to celebrate this month—some of the hottest hair and beauty trends, talented new stylists, and our owner and founder Natalie’s birthday on the 23rd! We started the month off strong by celebrating summer in the City with New York bride and July Cover Girl Kirsten Greuter. We had so much fun prepping this beautiful bride for her rehearsal dinner, and of course, her big day, and we can’t wait to share everything that makes this medical professional and champion for women’s sports tick. Working with and shining a spotlight on our Cover Girls is one of our favorite parts of the month, and we are always on the lookout for the next babe to feature. If you have a special Ave42 babe in mind who is making waves in the word, send @ave42salon a DM to nominate her for the next month’s issue. We love hearing from you!
With the opening of our new Patterson Avenue location, we’ve brought quite a few talented new faces on to the team. This month, we are highlighting one of our favorite new stylists, Hannah Hopkins, and the beautiful work she’s created in the salon so far. We can’t wait to introduce you to all of the new artists that make Avenue 42 as special as it is—in both locations!—throughout the next couple of months. Read all about them in our blog, and of course, book an appointment to meet them and see the magic they create for yourself!
This summer is one for the beauty trend history books, especially with the Barbie movie coming out in just a few short weeks. With everything pink and blonde taking over magazine spreads, social media feeds, and awards show and premiere attire, we’ve had our own Barbie fun at the salon. Check out our hairstyle of the month for your dose of blond inspiration, and our product of the month from R + Co for the perfect way to keep your new doll-like color looking like it’s fresh out of the Barbie box. We will see you in the salon, at the pool, on the patio, or wherever you’ll be enjoying the summer this month!
This past month, our founder and makeup maven Natalie lived out her Carrie Bradshaw dreams in the Big Apple with one of our gorgeous #Ave42brides. Nathalie traveled all the way to Manhattan to make Ave42 bride and July Cover Girl Kirsten Greuter’s wedding glam dreams come true. Kirsten had a beautiful June wedding and rehearsal dinner a few weeks ago, complete with the most romantic and rosy makeup looks. Talk about a blushing bride!
A registered nurse for the Hospital of Special Surgery, Kirsten joined Best in Class MD as the Chief Clinical Solutions Officer after finishing her graduate nursing program at New York University. Kirsten spends her work days connecting patients looking for second opinions with the top 1 percent of board-certified medical doctors across various specialties.
However, Kirsten is also an entrepreneur and co-founder of Greuter Golf, a group devoted to making golf more accessible to women. Kirsten and a group of her friends started Greuter Golf after a trip to Cape Cod. During an overcast day that didn’t exactly scream sun and sand, the foursome decided to try their hand at golf. Even though none of the women had much experience with the sport before, they realized how much fun golf could actually be outside of the pressures and judgement of the traditional golf club. Now, the group provides easy, fun golf outings to a community of female golfers who want a place to enjoy the sport without the performance pressure of the traditional, male-dominated course. Kirsten and Greuter Golf are all about getting girls on the green, regardless of skill level, experience, or athletic ability. Kirsten and her co-founders grew Greuter Golf from a friend group with a satirical Instagram account to a community of over 12K followers—they’ve even been featured in Golf Digest!
We are beyond proud to call Kirsten one of our Avenue 42 Cover Girls. When she isn’t helping patients in the medical office, she is making the world of golf one that’s friendlier to women and bringing amateur golfers (and self-proclaimed non-golfers) all across New York City together. All of our Cover Girls make a difference in their industry, whether that be beauty, modeling, media, or medicine. We had so much fun spending the day with Kirsten in Manhattan and getting her bridal group primped and ready for her big day. We are wishing all the best of luck and love to Kirsten and her new hubby, Greg, on their new life together, and we can’t wait to see all of the amazing things she does next!

We’d like to welcome Hannah Hopkins to our Artist of the Month club, as well as to the Avenue 42 family, officially. One of the newest members of the team, Hannah is a hair and makeup apprentice at the salon. Hannah has loved the art of hair and makeup ever since she was a little girl. She started out with makeup sets for kids and progressed her way to one of the best salons in the city. Hannah is one of the hardest workers we know behind the chair, and she attributes her unbreakable work ethic to her 16-year softball career. When she’s not making women feel their best at the salon, she is spending time with her puppy, her significant other, and her family. Book Hannah for color, blowouts, cuts, and the bubbliest, most cheerful service around.
When Barbie isn’t relaxing with Ken in Malibu, she is getting the best and brightest blonde right on Sunset Boulevard with R + Co’s toning masque. Barbie blonde is in this month, but brassy, yellow hues are still out. Luckily, you never have to worry about those again with this corrective, deeply nourishing formula from the experts behind some of your favorite looks. Created from the Violet Flower, among other naturally derived pigments, this masque boasts the richest, deepest purple shade to counteract the yellow hues that naturally emerge with bleached hair. If you struggle with brassy or fading color, or even the dryness or chemical damage that is so common for dyed blondes, give this ultra-nourishing toning masque a try before you book your next appointment. That way, you can get the hair of your Barbie fantasies right from the comfort of your own DreamHouse bathroom.
